The Game Begins

If there's anything that you want your mind to stretch about, try maintaining your milk supply while on holiday. Someone tells me breastfeeding is a mind game, and the game heightens tonight.

I'm packing for a 8 days, 8 nights holiday to Kyoto and Osaka, Japan, out of which 1 day and 1 night are spent either on the plane or on transit at Bangkok. My flight is scheduled for tomorrow night. Logistics have been arranged for my mother in law to take care of JZ at her home in Johor, Malaysia while my hubby and I are away.

The mantra here is 'Pump and throw on the go, unless situation permits to store'. To store will also need to meet many hygience and freshness criteria which I will tackle along the way.

My last 'pump on the go' trip to Siem Riep, Cambodia indeed helped me prepare for this trip. However, this time round there is another challenge....winter! People have warned that cold weather affects the milk supply so we will put mind over matter to the test...

'Pump on The Go' checklist:
1. Milk storage bags
2. Manual pump set with spare rubber parts
3. Motorized pump set with batteries
4. Ziplock bags (to store used pump during outings)
5. Cooler container (hard casing and large enough that can be used to soak pump for sterilization)
6. Ice gel (to keep milk cold/frozen if situation permits)
7. Sterilizer tablets
8. Travel kettle (optional, if sterilizer tablets are good enough)
9. Disposable bra pads and nursing bras
